DESCRIPTION
This was purchased by me approx 7 weeks ago as a "project" bike. I had a really nice Cube Acid 2010, which I owned from new. This Marin is a 06/07 model, but there's no way you'd be able to place its age by its looks. It has been really well cared for and has not been near many mountains at all in its life. There are very few marks, normally MTB's get hammered in the first 2 years, but this has been really well cared for. Everything is solid and stable, and it goes like the clappers. Or is that me?
These were £1,250 in 06/07! Ouch! For a full-suspension bike it's extremely light. Today you have to spend £2,000+ to get something lighter. My plan was to strip the Marin down, add some nice trick carbon-fibre bits, expensive wheels etc, and have a paint scheme that was like my Cube including new decals. I fell in love with my Cube due to its red/black/white scheme you see.
In the end, I decided that this bike was in too good condition to mess with, it's a credit to its former keeper. I can't take credit for how well it's been cared for - or how little it has been used! I decided instead of spending £600 on the bike to make it "my own" that I'd try to buy something much more expensive so that I didn't need to spend money on it. Afterall, spending £600 on my Marin woudln't have increased its value sadly. I bought a 2011 Whyte T120-S. I tried to buy another Marin, but 2011 stock had sold out. The 2011 Marin I liked had a red/blk/white scheme too! It's the rare model with the John Whyte rear suspension unit! Picture 11 shows some faint marks on the tube, which looks like it has come from padding on a bike rack, nothing major, but you can see it if you bend down to look at it.

The bike wasn't even cleaned for these pics, btw I don't ride anywhere near mountains! I've seen many much more expensive mountain bikes (and trust me I looked at loads on eBay) that are in far worse condition and were only 2 years old! These things do tend to get abused, I just happened to find a really great example. TBH it was too good a base-bike to start stripping bits off.
