Not all of you may of heard of this lad but he was a real character and talent in the world of MotoGP.

Unfortunately, Marco Simoncelli aka "Super Sic" lost his life (he was only 24!!) after a collision with 2 other riders!

He lost the front end and tried to use his body to push himself back up......... normally, the bike would snap from underneath and send the rider sliding off the track on his back BUT, somehow, the bike just gripped onto the track and pulled him across into the path of Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi........... both riders were powerless to avoid him.

The impact was so bad that it managed to rip his helmet off of his head and send it bowling down the track.......... he went into cardiac arrest on the track, the medical staff at the track managed to bring him round but, sadly, Marco succumbed to his injuries at 4:56pm (local time) on 23rd October.

I myself, am a big fan of MotoGP and the loss of Marco is a very sad one indeed........ he was a real character off the track and fast as f*ck on the track....... always gave it 100% even if it meant he fell off!

Luckily, Colin Edwards escaped with a dislocated shoulder and Valentino Rossi managed to escape unharmed without even falling off the bike (god knows how the hell he managed that!)

Both riders were too distraught to speak to media about their view on it.

Got to feel sorry for them too............ i couldnt even imagine how they must feel.

A Couple of tributes to Marco (1st has crash footage):

Us regular Motorbike fans enjoyed the ride Marco, and witnessed you becoming stronger and more mature with each passing GP. He literally would do it, or fall off trying. As Chris said, normally when the front breaks free and low-sides as seen here, the bike and rider simply slide off the track like an understeering car and hit whatever is waiting for them in the grass etc.

This was such a bizarre event, and these guys are so talented that they can 'pivot' a bike from a slide with their knee and elbow and often 'stand the bike back up' and simply carry on. I can't imagine how Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi feel having no chance to avoid Marco's sliding bike. Plus knowing that whilst they are both blameless, it would be fate that saw another 2 bikes and riders collide and cause the injuries from which Marco would not recover.

The quicker the sport finds out about how Marco's helmet came off the better, was it a fault, did the impact simply rip the strap from the fixings on the helmet, time will tell. It's also likely to be a contributing factor for the injuries Marco sustained. I missed the race, and searched on YouTube for a video of the crash. Being a biker it sent a bloody big chill down my spine.

He was 4th in the race and had already had 2 MotoGP podiums. He was leading the field of junior riders who had earlier migrated from the lower 'feeder' class up to MotoGP rides. To have all that talent behind him in that race, proved he was becoming something special. He was a great character to watch, he certainly was heading upwards too.

So young, so talented, don't worry Marco we won't forget big fella...

Another terrible loss, and to think that he is my age really hits this home. However, it must be said if there were any fatalities in motorsport it would have been in the ones that they have recently. To me there is nothing to help you once you fall of your bike, and in Wheldon's case well, there isn't much to be said than travelling at 220mph inches apart isn't going to end well.
